Welcome to The Hawkesbury Trawlermen web site ,

The Hawkesbury Trawlermen are singers of shanties, sea songs and the like and are based in North Warwickshire in the centre of England (yes - you really couldn't get much further from the sea!')

We are a group of mates who all attend the local folk clubs and enjoy a good rousing song or two! The "Crew" includes current and previous organisers and hosts of the three North Warwickshire Folk Clubs:
Atherstone Folk Club
Bedworth Folk Club
Nuneaton Folk Club
(Click a link for more information about each club)

So why are we called The Hawkesbury Trawlermen, well as there is no sea nearby we had to make do with "the cut" and as we have all had many a good pint in the The Greyhound Pub at Sutton Stop on The Hawkesbury Junction (The junction of The Coventry Canal with the Oxford Canal), Near Bedworth, we thought that would be a good choice and Trawlermen is just for a bit of frivolity as I am sure you would never get a trawler under the bridge at Sutton Stop, and we all like a good laugh - with a collective age in excess of 650 years we need something to keep us smiling!

We sing on the 3rd Thursday of each month at The Attleborough Arms, in Nuneaton at about 2:30pm for an hour or so and everyone is welcome to come along and listen, join in, eat and drink (and even buy us a pint if you feel so inclined), in addition we perform in the local folk clubs, and, to be honest, anywhere else that will have us, pubs, clubs, bars, beer festivals, weddings, wakes etc!

If you would like us to perform for you pop over to the contact page and send us a message.
